Deanna Rose Park - Kansas

Randy, Addison and I made a quick trip out to Kansas a couple of weeks ago to pick up a camp trailer for Randy to live in while he is in Vernal. I have to admit that I was very proud of Addison. She rode so well in the car. The only time that she really fussed to get out of the car was at 1:30 AM after she had been in the car for 17 hours! And she wasn't really fussing to get out of the car, she was fussing because she wanted to go to bed in "Addi's bed". Randy said that he couldn't listen to Addi's sad cry for another hour, so we got a hotel room right outside of Kansas City. The next day we took Addison to a fun little park that Randy's sister had told us about, to let her run around and play. It is called the Deanna Rose Childrens Farmstead.

Addison is posing for the camera. Don't you love her pretty smile? (She was mad at me because I made her stop what she was doing to look at the camera!)

Of course, we had to stop and see the ducks. That was the first place Addison ran to.

Trying to catch a koi fish with her bare hands. Well, she'd try if she could get over the railing!

Addison wanted to ride the tractor SO badly, but alas, her mother is too mean and wouldn't let her!

Addison would go to each animal's cage and talk to them in their language. What a social little girl!

Addison and her mommy. Don't we look great for 18 hours on the road and 4 hours of sleep? I think so! (Just kidding!)

Addison was pointing to each of the individual butterflies and telling me what color they are. She is such a little smartie pants!

This position was the best way for Addison to turn the wheel. She could have cared less what she was turning it for, she was just turning it.

We tried to walk away from this thing (still not quite sure exactly what it is), but it kept pulling Addison back!

Thanks to our neighbors, Addison showed no fear in petting the baby goat!

We had such a great time at this park! And it was free! Randy and I kept saying how neat it would be to have something like this closer to home. Thanks for the great idea, Cheryl!

Grand Opening Party

My brother Corey and his wife Jenni have opened a frozen yogurt shop in American Fork (598 West Main Street), called Froyo. (Click here for more info.) They are having their grand opening party Saturday, September 12th at noon. Please everybody come and support them. It also doesn't hurt that their frozen yogurt is SOOOO good!

Hopefully we will see all of you there!

Countryfied Little Girl

Our neighbors this year got baby calves and piglets for their "farm". Every morning and evening the animals need to be fed their milk by bottle. On this particular evening our dear, sweet neighbors let Addison help them feed their cows and pigs. Needless to say, she LOVED it!

I love this one! Look at what a big girl she is! "I did it!"

The cow that Addison is feeding goes by the name of Max. Max followed Addison wherever she went with the bottle. I think the two of them our now "best-ies".

Apricot-Pineapple Jam

With our new house in the "country", I feel that I need to domesticate myself. I can find my way around a kitchen fairly well, but I have never embarked on anything like this. I have to say that I surprised myself at how easy making jam really was. And I surprised myself even more with how good it actually tasted. I am not a fan of either apricots or jam, but I definately have enjoyed putting this on fresh bread.

Randomness

The other night, I was over at my parents houes helping my father move some furniture around. My mother was so sweet and bathed Addison for me. We didn't have any jammies on us, so Grandma put Addi in her diaper and wrapped a blanket around her. When we were leaving, my father said to me "Her eyes are heavy. She is going to fall asleep on your way home." Addi didn't fall asleep on me, in fact, she was full of energy by the time we got home. The first thing she did was throw the blanket on the floor and proceeded to undo her diaper and streak around my house. I was laughing so hard, it took me forever to catch that crazy girl!

How precious is this face? I love this girl!!!

Addison's new favorite game at our house is playdough. Or as she says it "pee dough". 

Addison has been doing this trick for such a long time, but it has taken me just as long to get her to sit in front of the camera so that I can catch it. As you'll notice, she didn't sit for too long!

2 Year Checkup & Hoof and Mouth???

This last Wednesday, Addison went to the doctor for her 2 year checkup. I was curious as to what her new pediatrician would say about Addi's weight, since we have had issues with that in the past. I was pleasantly surprised when he said that everything looked good. He said that she needs to drink more milk (I laughed to myself because at her 18 month checkup her old pediatrician said she needed to cut back on the milk.) and less juice. Addison won't drink milk since she was forced to give up the bottle, so that wasn't much of a surprise to me. He also said that she needed to go back on the Pediasure for the nutritional value. Other than that, he said she is looking great, but that she will need to go back in for a weight check in 3 months. 

Weight: 22 lbs. 10 oz. = 6th percentile

Length: 34 in. = 66th percentile

Addison started coming down with a fever Thursday afternoon. I thought that is was related to the immunization shot she received the day before. However, the day after that, she started getting really cranky and complaining about her mouth and teeth, which I also attributed to her two year molars. It wasn't until later in the day that I noticed little red blisters in Addison's mouth. Randy and I took Addison over to the InstaCare to get her checked out. Turns out that our little Princess has Hand, Foot and Mouth Disease (click here). Not to be confused with Hoof and Mouth Disease (click here), which is found in cattle. Hand, Foot & Mouth Disease is a contagious virus that causes blisters on the...you guessed it...hands, feet and mouth! Children ages 6 months to 4 years are the most susceptible to this disease because their immune systems are weaker than most adults. Right now, Addison refuses to eat. Not because she doesn't want to eat, but because she can't eat. Everything that she puts in her mouth hurts her little blisters. Poor little girl has just cried and cried for two days straight. We haven't been around anyone with this virus, but I'm pretty sure that she got it from the doctor's office. Addison ALWAYS (well, 97% of the time) gets sick AFTER she's been to the doctor. Randy and I joke that if anyone has something, she will catch it! 

Unconditional Love

I've said it before and I'll say it again. Unconditional love is fishing your child's poop out of the bathtub!
