My Favorite Things

I was putting Addison to sleep this evening in my bed (we are still at my parents) and she was a little fidgety and fighting sleep. (We had a late night last night at the in-laws and she didn't have a nap today, so she was REALLY tired.) She tossed and turned and finally layed her head on the bed. Then, I heard her start to sing to herself.  I couldn't help but smile and laugh to myself.  What a wonderful sound that is!  I have to say that hearing her sing and talk to herself is probably one of my most favorite things.  I don't know what is my most favorite thing though.  Listening to her sing to herself, watching how excited she gets when she sees animal, laughing (and not just the fake laugh, the full on gives herself hiccups, laugh) or telling me "love you mommy" and giving me the sweetest kiss.
I love you, Addison! You bring me so much JOY!!!

First Bike Ride...Well Kinda

I was in the kitchen at my parents house, making dinner or something like that, and Addison was begging Grandma to let her ride the bike.
Grandma caved and got the bike out of the garage, dragged it to the back patio, put the helmut safely on Addison's noggin, and for what I ask you???
Just to take the helmut off her head and drag the bike back to the garage 30 seconds later because Addison found something else to hold her interest!

DeQuervain Tenosynovitis

Thursday, I went in for surgery on my left wrist.  I have a type of tendinitis (DeQuervain Tenosynovitis) that is fairly common in new mothers. I hadn’t ever heard of it either until I went to the orthopaedic doctor, but apparently, it is fairly common!  I had my right wrist done about 6 months ago and it has healed quickly, so hopefully in about a week or two I will be back in top shape. (Until the next thing happens...I hate getting old!!!)

When I'm An Old Lady

When I'm an old lady, I'll live with each kid,
and bring so much happiness, just as they did.
I want to pay back all the joy they've provided.
Returning each deed! Oh, they'll be so excited!
(When I'm an old lady and live with my kids)

I'll write on the wall with reds, whites and blues,
and I'll bounce on the furniture wearing my shoes.
I'll drink from the carton and then leave it out.
I'll stuff all the toilets and oh, how they'll shout!
(When I'm an old lady and live with my kids)

When they're on the phone and just out of reach,
I'll get into things like sugar and bleach.
Oh, they'll snap their fingers and then shake their head,
and when that is done, I'll hide under the bed!
(When I'm an old lady and live with my kids)

When they cook dinner and call me to eat,
I'll not eat my green beans or salad or meat,
I'll gag on my okra, spill milk on the table,
And when they get angry. I'll run. if I'm able!
(When I'm an old lady and live with my kids)

I'll sit close to the TV, through the channels I'll click,
I'll cross both eyes just to see if they stick.
I'll take off my socks and throw one away,
and play in the mud till the end of the day!
(When I'm an old lady and live with my kids)

And later in bed, I'll lay back and sigh,
I'll thank God in prayer and then close my eyes.
My kids will look down with a smile slowly creeping,
and say with a groan, "She's so sweet when she's sleeping!"

Happy Mother's Day!

Randomness

Here are some random photos that we have taken.  I am just too lazy to upload and post them when I take them, so sorry about the long post.

I am too slow to actually capture Addison in motion, but Addison was giving her cousin's Libby and Isaac kisses on their head. She is such a sweet girl!
Addison went to a princess party and right away found the trampoline.  She got herself up the ladder and onto the trampoline all by herself.  She is growing up WAY too fast.
Check out this hair.  She could give Albert Einstein a run for his money with that hair!

CHEESE!
Addison helped me make focaccia bread. She was such a good little helper in the kitchen. She helped me saute the onions, grease the cookie sheet and sprinkle herbs on the dough. It was pretty funny though, because she would NOT touch the dough. In fact, she started to cry a little when I touched the dough.
Addison is saying "I could devour this whole loaf all by myself".
"Don't look mom! I just need a little taste!"
"YUMMY!!!"
"Just a little bit more. Don't tell!"
FYI: This loaf of focaccia lasted about a whole half hour, before it was completely devoured (and not just by Addison)!

Addison's Bath

Note: The pictures you are about to witness were taken from a cell phone camera. Sorry for the shoddy images!

The other night, I bathed Addison and gave her to Papa to hold while she drank her milk.  She had fallen asleep in her Papa's arms and started coughing. Then all the sudden, she started vomiting all over Papa. As an end result, she got to take another bath.  As you can see from the pictures below, she wasn't too upset about that. I put her in the bath and started to wash her and realized that there weren't any wash cloths in the bathroom so we had to use a hand towel. She thought this was the greatest thing ever.  When we were done cleaning her up, I put the towel on her like a blanket and she loved it. She didn't want to get out of the bath. If I weren't so worried about her drowning in the bath, I would have let her sleep in there like she had wanted to.

PS. She ended up vomiting on Papa a second time that night! Just thought you wanted to know!!!

My Two Babies

Addison's jungle gym from when she was a baby (I know she is still a baby) is probably one of her favorite toys right now. (She didn't care for it too much when she was a baby, but right now, it is a prized possession!) We have to get it out EVERY day so that she can play with it. This afternoon when Wyatt came over to play it was no exception. However, I had to snap photos when the two of them layed under the jungle gym just like little babies! How cute are they?
