I am trying to make traditions for our little small family and one of them is going to see Santa Claus. Isn't this every one's family tradition?
The first year with Santa, Addison did great. She was only 6 months old and didn't cry.
Last year, we couldn't even get a picture with Santa. I don't know who was more afraid of who. Addison with Santa or Santa with Addison.
This year, I kind of thought it would be a repeat of last year, but surprisingly it wasn't. Okay, that is not quite true. One day while Randy, Addison and I were in Walmart, they had a Santa there that you could sit on his lap and get a picture with. Addison tried to be a big girl. But when it came time to sit on his lap, she cried and cried and cried. She knew that she shouldn't cry with Santa. So whenever his name came up, she would say "Addi cry with Santa".
The next time we saw Santa, my Mom, Addison and I were at the 'mall'. I say mall loosely because if you have ever been to the Logan mall, you will not that it is not much of a mall. Anyway, we were waiting in line and Addison was doing really well. She even went up to Santa and was good with him. Until I walked away so that she could get a picture with him. Then she started to cry. I thought that maybe if Santa gave Addison one of his candy canes, then she would stop crying. This Santa was more of a Grinch. He said he wouldn't give her one until she sat on his lap. We decided that it wasn't worth making Addison cry, so we got up to leave. That is when Santa's heart grew two sizes that day. He said that she could have a candy cane. Once Addi got her candy cane, I told her that she needed to tell Santa 'Thank You' and give him a big love. After she gave him a hug, she was brave enough to sit on his lap for a picture. I was so proud of my big, brave girl!
PS. If you can't tell, Addison has her 'happy face' on!
